Springtime is the perfect season to start investing in your health and physical wellness. The benefits of Pilates are myriad but some of the important ones are increased strength of core and global muscles, benefits bone density (particularly of the wrists and upper body), better balance, improved posture, flexibility, reduction in the risk of injury and speeding up recovery times. Not only does it benefit the body as a whole but it also has been shown to be a great tonic for mental wellness too. Mindfulness has been shown to be so important to balance out our busy, overextended minds and Pilates can be equated to a moving meditation.
I’ve made it really easy to sign up this term. You’ll find more details, including the times, prices and other details here. All you need for each class is a device you can use Zoom on, a mat, some space to move in and cushions or pillows handy for support.
Some people feel uncomfortable being on camera and I totally understand this. You are more than welcome to turn off your camera for class, if that makes you more comfortable. I do love to see everyone’s face though. As an instructor I find it helps me to give my best!
You have 3 courses to choose from this term:
Mixed Level Pilates (4 session term)
This course is designed for all levels of fitness, whether you have done lots of Pilates before or are new to exercise, I will guide you through an effective workout with lots of modifications and support throughout. I aim to build a balanced class that takes your body through it’s full range of movement. We move together, we build our physical strength and we tap into our endurance too.
Powered Up Pilates (5 session term)
This is a 40 minute power packed class. It is not suitable for complete beginners or anyone recovering from injury. We move faster and include what I like to call “mat-based cardio” So we use movements like mountain climber and squats to get the heart rate up a little in between more traditional Pilates exercises. It’s great if you want to push yourself a little further in your workouts.
Zen Pilates (5 session term)
This class is a favourite among many and that is because we all need a bit of down time. A safe space to both work your body but also to rest it. I’ve designed this class with a more holistic approach. We utilise breathwork, oracle cards, mindfulness and meditation techniques along with using Pilates principles to strengthen, tone and stretch the body.
If you’ve any questions on any of my classes feel free to contact me at carol@yourgrowthpotential.com and I’ll get right back to you!
Now….here we go with my top 10 tips to Spring into Spring:
- Increase your water and fluid intake. Dehydration can make you feel sluggish.
- As the weather warms, start introducing more salads and fresh food into your daily meals.
- If you don’t already have them, invest in a pair of blackout curtains for your bedroom.
- Winddown in the evening away from screens and pick up a book instead.
- Start something new, a new hobby, skill or interest. It is the perfect time to start “growing” your interests.
- Get out for walks in nature. Our nervous system needs the recalibration that nature offers.
- Tap into the energy of growth. Take some time to create some goals for yourself and start moving towards them. If you are unsure of how to move towards your goals, perhaps a tarot reading would offer you some clarity.
