Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. In this quick intro to Reiki, I discuss how Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that is suitable for everyone, including your pets! The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki practitioners after receiving their attunements, which opens their energy centres fully, can channel energy through their hands, creating symbols and patterns of light energy to heal and harmonize.
Reiki energy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation within the physical mind and body, removes energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing. Reiki practitioners can also channel Reiki energy over time and space. Past hurts and injuries can be encouraged to release from the system. Physical distance does not affect the quality of Reiki healing. Everything in this world is connected via a field of resonance and energy. This energy can be manipulated by the Reiki practitioner, as quantum physics is beginning to verify. Reiki healers channel Ki (energy), which should be noted is not their energy, into the energy field of individuals for rebalancing. This energy is either absorbed and directed by their higher selves for healing or it will be deflected if not needed. The energy a person absorbs will always be in line with their highest good.
The key is to understand in this quick intro to Reiki, is that it can enrich your life and help foster balance and health on all levels, mentally, physically and spiritually. Reiki is Universal life force energy, that which sustains life and promotes healing in all living things. Reiki practitioners believe it is important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. The more we embrace our energy the better we will be able to live in harmony rather than in conflict with the world., both within and without.
Since the word Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy, it (strictly speaking) refers to the energy and not the specific techniques taught by Reiki Masters. The limits to Reiki seem to be in the recipient’s willingness to cast off old habits and patterns, to accept change and to accept healing. The other meaning for healing, used in the practice of Reiki as well as other related areas, is the return to greater wholeness. Reiki has been found to be very helpful for stress and anxiety reduction. Feel free to check out my 5 Crystals for Anxiety blog here. (Please note that Reiki or crystals should never be used in place of medical treatment, it should be used as a compliment to treatment and as a way to maintain balance throughout treatment.)
If you are interested in Reiki, it is likely you have been guided on your healing journey, to this time and this place, where Reiki is more readily available. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommends that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures. I’ll be doing a blog post on these Precepts of Reiki soon! So, I hope you found this quick intro to Reiki interesting. Give Reiki a try, and you may be surprised at the ways it may improve your life.
